Foundation and groundworks for data centres

Data centres are one of the fastest growing construction segments in the Nordics, and GMT is already deeply involved. We carry out foundation work, piling, ground stabilisation and concrete works for some of the region’s largest data centre projects.

A stable foundation is crucial for data centres

A data centre places extreme demands on the foundation. Heavy server halls, cooling facilities and redundant systems require a foundation that is precise, load-bearing and durable over a long time.

The ground often needs to be reinforced and stabilised before the buildings can be raised, and the work must be done at high pace and with full control of quality and safety. This is where GMT has unique experience. As an ISO-certified full-service contractor, and as part of the Infralogistic group, we have both the expertise and the capacity to deliver foundation and groundworks at the scale that data centre projects require.

This is what we do for data centres

Piling

Concrete and steel piling at large scale to carry heavy server halls and technical buildings.

Ground stabilisation

Stabilisation with cement columns and other methods to make the ground load-bearing.

Sheet piling and excavation

Sheet piling and excavation for foundations and level differences on large facilities.

Concrete works

Foundation structures and slabs with high demands on precision and load capacity.

Injection and sealing

Sealing of rock and concrete for dry, safe and durable structures.

Full-service capacity

All services with one supplier, with resources for very large-scale projects.

Selected data centre projects

We have carried out foundation and groundworks for several of the largest data centres in the Nordics. A selection:

Data centre in Vasteras

Foundation work for three data centre buildings for one of the world’s largest technology companies, with approximately 10,000 metres of concrete and steel piles.

Hyperscale data centre in the Nordics

Extensive ground stabilisation with approximately 600,000 metres of cement columns, concrete piling of approximately 26,000 metres, drilled steel piles of approximately 15,000 metres and sheet piling of approximately 10,000 square metres.

Data centre in the Nordics

Drilled steel piles of approximately 23,000 metres for a new data centre building.

For confidentiality reasons we do not state the names of our clients.
