What is injection?

Injection, or grouting, is a collective term for methods where joints, cracks or cavities in concrete or rock are filled with material, usually polyurethane, epoxy or cement.

The method is often cost-effective and gentle, and extends the lifespan of a building without major intervention in the structure or its surroundings. Structures below ground level are especially exposed to water pressure and stress. When water penetrates through cracks, the reinforcement starts to corrode and the load-bearing capacity deteriorates. With injection we restore the strength and stop the problem from the inside.

We carry out injection in everything from simple to complex and unique assignments within construction, industry and infrastructure, for construction companies, property owners, housing cooperatives, municipalities and the Swedish Transport Administration. As an ISO-certified full-service contractor, we can also combine injection with foundation, ground and concrete works in the same project.

What we seal and strengthen

We carry out sealing, repairs and reinforcement in both large and small projects:

Water-bearing cracks & joints

Water and moisture penetrating cracks cause frost and corrosion damage. Common in water reservoirs, basements, garages and tunnels. Polyurethane recommended.

Leaking movement joints

Water ingress in movement joints in longer castings, such as garages, buildings, concrete tunnels and larger structures. Polyurethane recommended.

Leaking pipe penetrations

Sewer, electrical and district heating penetrations that leak in the pipe or between concrete and pipe. Polyurethane recommended.

Sheet pile injection

Water ingress in sheet pile locks, between sheet pile and rock, or in sheet pile anchors. Polyurethane recommended.

Load-bearing cracks

When the structure needs to be bonded to carry load, with corrosion protection against carbonation, for example bridge edge beams. Epoxy recommended.

Void injection

Floors in several layers that have detached and started to crack are repaired and re-anchored.

Minor underpouring

Underpouring with strength requirements, for example at bridge bearings and foundations.

Curtain grouting

Sealing grout curtain in rock and ground to stop water flows.

Anchor injection

Setting and fixing of anchors in foundation work and reinforcement.

Materials we work with

The material is chosen according to the properties and functions the project requires.

Polyurethane

  • Corrosion protection and waterproofing in both rock and concrete
  • Works against active water pressure in leaking cracks
  • Expanding, requires little preparation
  • Elastic, crack widths from 0.15 mm and up

Epoxy

  • Bonding, load-transferring and corrosion-protecting
  • For damp, non-actively leaking cracks
  • High strength requirements, e.g. underpouring
  • Crack widths from 0.1 mm and up

Cement

  • Corrosion protection and load-transferring properties
  • Injection in foundation work, e.g. setting of anchors
  • Underpouring and bridge bearings
  • Larger cracks, crack widths from 0.4 mm and up

How the injection works

Inspection

We inspect and assess the damage and develop a technical solution together with you.

Preparation

The area is cleaned and prepared, and holes are drilled at strategic points.

Injection

The material is introduced through packers or nozzles under controlled pressure.

Curing

The material cures and fills the crack completely. The structure is sealed and strengthened.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an injection take?

It depends on the scope of the project and the choice of material. Smaller jobs are often completed in a day, larger projects can take a few days. We provide a schedule after an initial inspection.


How do I know if my property needs injection?

Cracks, water leaks or cavities in concrete are common signs. We recommend a professional inspection to determine the need.


Which materials are used?

The most common are polyurethane, epoxy and cement-based grouts. The material is adapted to the need and environment, see the description above.


Is injection a sustainable solution?
